Fertility Friday 19
Acupuncturist
The first visit was impressive, maybe because I enjoy the philosophy of alternative medicine or maybe because the doctor was great or just maybe I wanted something to believe in that would help me.
We want a big family so while we are so grateful for the two littles we have, we certainly want to expand. It was devastating when we finally decided we were in a comfortable place emotionally, physically and financially to move forward. When our insurance wouldn’t cover IVF this time around we were heartbroken.
Our insurance does, however, cover acupuncture. So here we are renewed and desperately praying this works before we hike on into our forties…well at least the old man. HA!
What truly impressed me was the philosophy of eating to suit your blood type. I’ve always thought one diet isn’t always great for another. Although not proved in any other study this philosophy of eating makes sense. Basically certain foods react better than others based on your blood type.
Initially I wasn’t excited when he told me I needed a stronger diet in animal protein. Immediately I thought of meat. He simply meant getting more protein from animal sources like seafood or eggs.
This is where the study has incurred its biggest obstacles claiming that the diet doesn’t take into account peoples “habits.” For example an O+ blood type needs a diet strong in animal proteins but what if this person is a vegan?
Hmm good points are raised for every diet, fad, alternative, medicine, food out there. The individual has to do their own research and decide what is best for her. In this case I’ll try it. There is absolutely nothing negative about the diet that I could find. It doesn’t say to cut anything completely out like many fad diets do. It encourages the body to find what feels right for it.
I’m a bad patient, always have been. I’m the patient the doctor says not to drive or vacuum for 4 weeks as I drive myself home to vacuum the messy house from the 3 monsters destroying it. The point is I haven’t really jumped in. I’ve been cutting back on carbs which I’m always meaning to do because while I love them to death I always, ALWAYS, get too bloated, even from a small amount.
Basically the diet suggests what we all want, a healthy balanced diet but adding that it should be tailored to blood type. I’ll give it a whirl and report my findings. Hey if I get pregnant (oh yeah it’s supposed to help with that too), I will be preaching this diet loud and proud!
Kerry Anne! You do what the doctor says and you do it NOW.
ha-ha I’ve been doing good this past week, easing into it! heehee it’s really expensive finding pretzels, pasta and bread that has zero levening agents in them! ugh but Mallory told me she wanted a boy bergey cousin so I’m on it!
