I can’t believe July is almost over and we did not accomplish something new each day. The flu kicked our butt and then a couple weeks of family fun put a nix in the plan. However we did do a handful of fun and exciting things.
My favorite, well one was going to the movies with the girl’s best friend, Abby. Every Tuesday and Wednesday in the summer, the local theater offers older movies for just a dollar.
It’s pretty neat, they open up all the rooms so there is plenty of space for all the summer camps, schools and daycares should they swing on by.
Last year we went to see Shrek Forever After, and while now this is one of our favorites I think last year it was a tad too scary for the girls to see in a big dark theater. They were also intimidated by the chaos of all the other kids.
They both snuggled tightly on my lap for about 10 minutes before the tears started down their cheeks while they stared fearfully and big eyed as Rumpelstiltskin curled his nasty toes and took Shrek’s life.
This year they seemed genuinely excited. I told KT we would have to get there early so the girls had a chance to warm up and not have flash backs. H, of course, remembered every detail of our last experience.
Once we got settled in our seats everything was fine. We watched Rio, definitely one of my all-time favorites as H and Abby goofed off. L sat quietly and intently for the entire show.
After the movie was over L immediately said she wanted to go again while H said it was too long for her to sit still. Fine with me, I love a kid that knows what works for her!
Aside of all this cuteness, I loved watching the little ones try to sit in those big seats. If they sat all the way back the front would fold up, which they eventually succumbed to.
Next time Steve has off we’ll either try again as a family or L and I will have a girl’s morning while H and Daddy have some special time of their own.
