What’s with the Pink Hair
I am a natural brunette pretending to be some form of dirty blond. I have a great hair stylist, Kate-my sister and have never had issues with getting the color I wanted, until I gave birth. Now this is probably a coincidence but the craziest coincidence I’ve ever encountered as well as a puzzling issue to many of the great local stylist. A few months after the girls were born, around the time I stopped breast feeding, my hair started changing colors. All the blond pieces were turning pink. It was a slow progression at first but then it became more frequent. I’m not talking a pretty strawberry blond I’m talking strawberry shortcake. It was ugly. Our first thought was our water as we have a well. We had the water checked and there were no signs of iron (commonly known to affect bleached hair). It made sense that it wasn’t the water since we have never had issues with staining or smells. While my husband was at Home Depot looking at a shower head water purifier to see if that would help me, a man overheard him talking to the employee. This man told Steve that once his wife had kids the same thing happened to her. He said it was a hormone thing, interesting. Someone suggested I go to a dermatologist or the doctor and have my blood checked. I haven’t done that yet.
I did notice, after a fresh high-light, I washed my hair and used a conditioner with a raspberry extract that my hair turned pink immediately. Any and all hair products containing anything with any kind of red, orange or pink extract went to the guest bathroom. So where did that leave me? As the hair saga continues we noticed that lately it had only been turning pink in the front where I often run my hands threw it. Next to the kitchen sink is a big bottle of baby lotion, the pink kind. That is pink based and I use it every time I get my hands wet. So guess what? I gave that to my Mom.
Once I noticed pink I would use a stripping agent that would bring back the blond for a few days but then it would turn orangish. So it was no longer pink and some blond was there but now orange was taking over. Not only that my hair was dry. Yuck yuck and yuck!
It has been weeks and the trouble still remains not as bad but enough to annoy to me. So yesterday I had all the blond colored over to match my natural color as close as possible. Yuck am I dark. Kate added some caramel high-lights to soften it a little but it wasn’t a bleach based product. As part of the New Year I thought I would start fresh. With this color I will slowly let my roots grow in. I’ve got a new do, fresh mani, waxed brows; let’s keep it going.
If anyone out there has ever heard of such a thing please help me!!!! I want to be dirty. Dirty blond that is.

that's a hot mess of every color under the sun. too bad the pink wasn't kickin' but you get the point
