When I had H and L over five years ago, I didn’t know double carriers existed so I either carried both or used two individual carriers; not often but I did go down that road.
This time around there were certain things I wanted, needed, to make this twin first year easier and one of those items was this amazing twin carrier by TwinTrexx. I actually found out about it through Stuff 4 Multiples and once I got hooked up with them I was introduced to a whole world of multiple stuff.
I received my TwinTrexx2 a few weeks ago and I AM IN LOVE!
Initially it was a bit confusing to figure out because there are so many ways to use the TwinTrexx2 but as soon as I calmed down from my crazy internal excitement, we were able to figure it out.
It is important to have someone there during the first go around as a spotter to make sure everyone fits snuggly in place and that nothing goes wrong. I can officially sling them in each position myself now.
Now, onto the product; the first thing I noticed was the material. It was soft, thick and very durable. The straps were wide and gave great support without digging into my back or shoulders, just cushion.
A few of my favorite features are:
- It’s NOT bulky. That is huge when wearing two babies in the summer
- The design really took into account where the baby’s face will be. No matter where the girls are looking the buckles/snaps do not poke into her face as you’ll see in the photos coming up
- Roomy front pocket. I can easily fit my phone, keys and small flat wallet
There are six, 6, yes six ways to use the TwinTrexx2; single front (facing in or out), single back, one on front and back, and double in the front (facing in or out). If I am alone I can manage both or when Steve is around he can carry one and so can I. That’s a major bonus!
Shall we review?
Let’s start with the basic single front and single back positions. Simply adjust the carrier to your comfort and load the baby preferably while sitting for safety reasons. (I recommend this with any and all carriers and please know I sit with each loading and unloading.)
When using the carrier in the front position the straps should always cross in the back.
Next is the front/back combination carrier. If you can put them on one at a time you are all set. Front goes on first followed by the back. While the girls were perfectly fine in the back, I have never felt comfortable with this. I like to see my babies at all times BUT that is just a personal preference. The babies on the other hand LOVED being in the back.
As you can see above I put the babies in their carriers, put the front on first, sit the back baby on the chair and sit myself before hoisting her onto my back.
Lastly and my favorite is the front/front. When the girls are facing out they are giggling non-stop and when they are facing in they are so relaxed and content.
This position was a little challenging at first to get a solid grasp on fit. I am pretty petite so there was a lot of tugging on straps to get a solid, sturdy fit and we pulled the straps all the way in order to feel secure. It’s not difficult by any means it just took a few tries until that light bulb went on for me.
Now I can do and undo without issue but honestly once you get the hang of it you don’t need to undo. Just put it on and take it off like a vest.
When I initially posted a photo of me and the babies on my Facebook page, one comment was, “really it’s cute and all but what can you really do with both of them on you like that?” Another warned, “Be careful, they are totally going to knock you off balance.” So I’ve compiled a montage just for those wondering what I can actually do with both of them on me:
Do the dishes…
Pose with a vicious pit-bull…
Put the baby toys away…
Lastly and most importantly continue to get the job done….
I still haven’t taken it to the grocery store or the beach but that is next!
Now all of that is great but my favorite and the one thing that makes this product completely worth every penny is when my babies aren’t feeling well; whether the sniffles or teething, I can hold them both.
Nothing soothes a baby like being held by her mother but with twins that can be a difficult task; the TwinTrexx2 carrier makes this task possible. My big girls were the same way hence the times I used two single carriers. Now I can load them both up in the front, facing in and rock them until they either fall asleep or calm down, feeling safe and happy.

**After a couple comments were made about hip issues I spoke with a few people in the medical field and would like to remind people to please use these products according to proper instructions. Also it is better for baby to face in so their legs can wrap around you and not dangle freely; that situation alleviates pressure on the hips. Forward facing when the legs dangle freely make cause pressure or issues on the hips if carried for long periods of time.
