Thirty Minutes of Freedom

This weeks listicles is “ten ways to spend thirty minutes!”  How fun is that?  A barrage of ideas came to mind, none of which were true like getting a facial, reading a book, or taking a slow stroll because realistically I would feel guilty and start scrubbing the kitchen, folding laundry, or organizing seasonal clothes.  Boring!  I know!

Earlier today I was standing in the kitchen doing the dishes as the girls were having lunch and I turned to them and said, “what would you do with 30 minutes?”

As both of them looked at me I realized that they have no concept of time; I’m still not sure that they know what “running late” means.

So I rephrased the question, “what would you do with 30 minutes (the length of a Dora show) if you knew Mommy wouldn’t get mad at you?”  I was trying to get some truth.

They started in quickly and I wrote as fast as I could.

  1. H-PLAY!!!
  2. L- Sing
  3. L-Dance
  4. H-eat- dinner and food  (I’m glad you clarified that you would eat food)
  5. L-have a party with balloons (high hopes/standards- let’s lower them a little)
  6. L-she pauses and says,’ I’m thinking of a good thing to do.”  Then she says ‘Clean Plates!” (odd since they hadn’t been in trouble yet today about cleaning)
  7. H- drink water, apple-juice, orange juice, grape-juice, whats that red stuff? Oh yeah Gatorade, fruit-shakes (L whispers what about lemonade) oh and lemonade. (she honing in on her abilities to handle college)
  8. L- put away stuff (again not in trouble but gonna be for all this lying)
  9. H- NOT eat those sour strawberries you bought (you asked for them)

And that is where it ended.  It is a funny list as H wants to revolve her time around food; probably because I was feeding them while L wanted to live it up but in a clean and tidy way.

So I guess for number 10 I will say I would love to read a magazine, page by page, in my rocker on the front porch with an ice cold beer!

Here’s to some sunny weather, the end of the semester and love in the world!

I’ll take this as my view on my leisurely stroll anytime….

What would you do?  Anything similar to the other wonderful bloggers on Stasha site today?

Old School Blogging….What?

Old school blogging? I’m not old school in this sense so I have to take the word of the blogger with the best hair in the business; Miss Elaine.

Why is it so fun to answer questions about yourself? I love the challenge of those stumping questions that make me think. These were easy though and I like those as well.

Questionnaires are always funny if you involve my sister. She always has funny one-liners so hopefully she is reading and has some witty comments.

What were you doing 10 years ago?
I was drunk. Seriously. We lived a spits distance from the beach, rode our bikes everywhere- work, the bars. We were building a house and having one last blast living the beach life….Those were GOOD times….but these are better.
What five things are on your to-do list?
Finish packing for our trip
Make a will
Get rosters ready for class and lax while I’m gone
Make plenty of snacks for L and her dairy free world-we’re out
Pick up Hubs prescription
What are five snacks you enjoy?
Apples or pretzels and hummus
Fruit shakes
If tomatoes are fresh I love toast w/ goat cheese, avocado and tomato or raspberries
Name some things you would do if you were a millionaire.
Some things? I can name one- start a rescue farm like the Gentle Barn.
Name some places you have lived
Herndon, VA
Ocean City, MD
Orange County, CA
Name some bad habits you have
Poor sleeping habits
Name some jobs you have had
Financial Adviser in the making….boring
Life guard…boring
New Home Sales Rep….boring
OK so I didn’t really like this questionnaire because it makes me look really boring….I don’t like being boring so hopefully next week has questions that make me look awesome!

Good night ya’ll and go check out these funny ladies at throw back blogging.

ps for the record I am having blog issues-please forgive the sloppiness

A Little Irish Yoga

Welcome March!  Month of the blessed Irish and that I am!  Life has been good this year minus one big heartache, who is thought about often.

I wanted to check in on my New Year’s Resolution and report how fantastic it is going!  I’ve seen, on-line, many of my friends complaining of in-laws, toxic friends, struggling relationships and I am happy to say that this was the best resolution I have ever made.

Not only has it freed up space to get annoyed with other things (kidding), it has actually created a trigger effect and I find myself letting things “roll” off my back (what the is the saying?) more easily.

I am also excited that my 2012 resolutions are still intact as well…most of them!

This is going to be a great month!  Full of gardening, cooking, teaching and loving!  Did I forget to mention drinking?  Well let’s add that, after all it is March!  I don’t want to disappoint my heritage by not graciously toasting the most charming people in the world!

Lastly I leave you with a little Irish Love:

At an Irish wedding reception the priest asked…

“Would all the married men stand next to the one person that makes like worth living…”

The bartender was almost crushed!
